Literary Season
The Hidden Ireland Literary Season begins with a weekend devoted to the writings of MJ Farrell (Molly Keane, who was reared not far from Woodbrook), will include Polly Devlin, the author and broadcaster who wrote the brilliant introductions to some of the MJ Farrell novels when they were re-published by Virago in the 1980s, as was her own classic account of a Co Tyrone childhood, All of Us There, a few years later. Also adding lustre and learning to this weekend will be Robert O'Byrne of the Irish Times, the well known journalist and writer. As well as readings from and discussion of the books the weekend will include visits to local landmarks with Molly Keane connections and on the Saturday evening a theatrical entertainment based on one of the MJ Farrell plays, Spring Meeting, which had a great success in London in the 1930s.
