Situated on the picturesque West Cork coastline, GortnaGlanna is twenty minutes from both Kinsale & Clonakilty, 500 metres from the Wild Atlantic Way, and very close to the villages of Tinoleague and Kilbrittain. GortnaGlanna is a period house on two and a half acres of lawns in the area of Harbour View. Built in the classic early Georgian style, the house is an impressive detached mid 18th century residence with many original features. Approached via a tree-lined avenue, the property has a walled garden on the grounds, a courtyard to the rear and is surrounded by mature trees.
GortnaGlanna House is a 4,000 square foot house which has four main bedrooms (2 ensuite), 3 bathrooms, a conservatory, a sunroom for dining in summer and two large reception rooms, overlooking the meadow, with sea views on the horizon. The house has original fireplaces throughout and is furnished with antique furniture and features a grand piano in one of the reception rooms.
The house also boasts a separate three bedroom cottage which includes its own kitchen & living room which is part of the courtyard and is available to visitors should it be required..
The Pink Elephant Restaurant & Bar is situated closeby and there is a farm shop also supplying freshly made bread, coffee and meals served called Rebecca’s Kitchen.
Harbour View has numerous beaches within easy reach including Howe Strand & Inchydoney. The Seven Heads Peninsula Walk extends from Timoleague village through Courtmacsherry, around the rugged cliffs and shoreline towards Dunworley Bay and on to Barryscove, Ardgehane and Ballinglanna. The area is also known for its rivers and deep sea fishing, birdwatching as well as Horse Riding.
GortnaGlanna House was originally built as a Hunting Lodge in 1750 and is steeped in history including the basement being used as a hideout for the IRA during the War of Independence.
