Built in 1888, by the great-grandfather of Catherine, the current owner, the house is set at the end of a short drive and is surrounded by mature oak, sycamore and pine trees. Kiltariff Hall has been lovingly cared for down the generations and our family has been part of the history of Rathfriland since the 1750s and many of our pioneering ancestors settled in New Zealand. You can browse many of the old family photos on display during your stay.
The reception rooms are beautifully spacious with high ceilings and ornate cornicing. The dining room boasts a large antique table and a Broadwood grand piano alongside the original fireplaces, pitch pine doors and woodwork. Upstairs the bedrooms are comfortable with well appointed en-suite bathrooms. There are exquisite views of the Mourne Mountains from one side of the house. Outside there is a vegetable garden and a patio for relaxing. Catherine provides an exceptional service where rooms are refreshed each day with fresh supplies of filtered water, milk and delicious home baked treats. The house also has broadband internet available in every room.
When it comes to breakfast Catherine is a firm believer that it can set you up for the day! Enjoy a traditional “Ulster Fry” or smoked salmon and scrambled egg in the dining room which looks out into the garden. For a lighter breakfast, a selection of fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereal is available from the buffet on the sideboard. Some of the berries are from our own walled vegetable garden when in season. Catherine also has a variety of her own homemade preserves and freshly homemade wheaten bread. Vegetarian, Vegan and Gluten Free options available upon request.

Don't Take Our Word For It...
“Catherine’s house is beautiful . Full of old world charm. We stayed in the Red Kite Room ,high ceilings, homemade fudge and a fabulous ensuite. The breakfast was delicious too. Catherine is a wonderful host. We stayed here after hiking in the Mourne Mountains and it was the perfect base. Would highly recommend staying here and would definitely return.”
