Tucked away on the grounds of Roundwood House estate at the foot of the Slieve Blooms, are the most secluded romantic cottages which make for the perfect escape.
The Forge
A beautiful open plan, split-level apartment occupies what used to be the forge at Roundwood House. Filled with books and paintings and set in 18 acres of park and woodland the Forge is a perfect escape, or a great base for exploring the Slieve Bloom Mountains. Walking trails, horseback riding and fishing are all on our doorstep.
We are an hour and fifteen minutes from Dublin and you can get here from anywhere.

The Writer's Cottage
Hidden away in the woods on the grounds of Roundwood House is the Cottage, originally the gardener’s dwelling. If room to swing a cat is a priority, then the Cottage is probably not for you. If romantic, secluded, or a breath of fresh air is what you’re looking for, you’ll love it! Travel writer, Pol O’Conghaile, lists the Cottage in the Irish Independent as one of the “ten best Irish hidey-holes guaranteed to erase memories of the nine to five”.

“We stayed in the writers cottage. It was bijoux but perfect. Loved that we could bring our dog who had a great time playing with the gorgeous little girls and there dogs. We had breakfast which was delicious and enjoyed the grounds. I felt I was in a Beatrix potter book.”
Gemma L, Tripadvisor Review
“Amazing place and a great example of what Irish people can offer. I would recommend staying in one of the cottages, and eating in the Big House. I will be going back when I can. A part of Ireland that is under discovered.”
